Worry about having Sleep Apnoea is very common. Concerns about snoring or waking up with a startle during the night are the most frequent symptoms of Sleep Disordered Breathing.
Waking up repeatedly during the night, with a snoring noise which wakes a bedpartner or room partner is distressing to both the snorer and partner.
Many people find it difficult to get back to sleep, following repeated interruptions and wakefulness, nightly. This cycle of interrupted sleep often leads to sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation can cause many related problems, for example, daytime tiredness, difficulties with concentration, increasing blood pressure and weight gain, amongst several other health changes.
Seeking help is very important to clarify symptoms and treatment, if indicated. The first step is to make an appointment with a General Practitioner (GP). Discussing your symptoms in detail, giving as much clarity as possible is important, as this will inform the next step. Your GP can then refer you to Dr Abhilash Sahadevan, Consultant in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, in the Beacon Consultants Clinic via email to Health Mail address : info@beacondentalsleep.ie (a safe Health Mail address).
Once your referral is received, we will contact you as soon as possible, scheduling an appointment for your concerns to be addressed. We provide Home Sleep testing and Hospital Sleep testing. Tests ordered will be based on your consultation appointment and detailed examination of your presenting symptoms.
